WHERE DO YOU WRITE?

Some people like to lock themselves away with no interruptions and immerse themselves with their muse. Others find music sets the mood.
I worked in a busy newsroom as a reporter with loud background noises all the time - people conducting interviews over the telephone, telling jokes, chatting, the clatter of keyboards, people shouting across the room for information or passing on instructions, and visiting groups of schoolchildren marching through the newsroom. In latter years, we had TV screens dotted all over (with one big one immediately behind my desk). I blocked it all out. Now I'm retired and write books for children, I cherish the silence. It's golden.
My problem is eating while I write. I keep reaching for snacks. After piling on the pounds, I keep healthy snacks within hands reach.
What about you? Do you write:
* at home:
* at your computer desk
* in the garden
* in the library
* in a park
* or perhaps your favourite coffee shop?
Some people find noise annoying and distracting. They like to retreat into their own world and don’t need background noise in order to be productive. Sometimes listening to music can be inspirational. The lyrics might strike a chord … so to speak.
Even a neglected pet demanding attention can stop the flow.
Other authors I’ve chatted to like the TV on in the background. They say it inspires their best prose.
If you've a sec, let me know what works for you.
Thanks for reading and don't forget to keep reaching for the stars
