Writing a book is like a journey. I buckle up and start at a certain position to travel towards my final destination. On the way, I meet different people and encounter various situations. Sometimes I take the shortest and straightest route, other times, I meander from my chosen itinerary and explore new territory. At a crossroads, I may decide to go left instead of right. I come to a certain place on my map and if I like it, I stay - if I don't, I move on to another.

When writing, I set off with my initial outline and as my story unfolds, different characters, scenes and plot ideas pop into my head. I twist and turn. It's one big adventure.

I hear voices in my head. Creeeeeepy, I know! But before you ask someone to lock me up and throw away the key, let me explain. They're characters in my stories. They won't shut up talking to each other. They drive me crazy but I'm me complaining. You see, they give me ideas for plot twists and story ideas. You can find out more about my writing process at BoodGoodiesKids.com

As a child, I wrote "novels" on a toy typewriter and my dad illustrated them and make the book covers. All sadly lost down the years. My love of writing led me into a career as as a newshound on a newspaper. Now I've gone full circle to writing novels again. Completing my first book gave me a huge sense of achievement. Author Jason Bourne discusses reviews, inspiration and whether writing is therapeutic in an interview on his Author's Roundtable blog.
