INSPIRATION

I'm often asked where I get the inspiration for my stories from. The answer is simple: everywhere. From things I see, hear, read - even from my dreams. My children's novel, ANTics was inspired by a dream after watching a group of ants carry a  potato chip back to their nest. On this page, guest authors share the inspiration behind  their children's books. If you are a children's author and would like to be featured on this blog, please contact me via the contacts page on this website.

I'm delighted that author Tracy Kauffman could stop by today. Tracy is a Christian author of Young Adult and Children's Stories, book publisher and book marketer. She grew up in North Alabama, USA, where she still lives with her husband and daughter.

Tracy loves writing and hopes to be able to inspire her readers into living a happy healthier life. She feels that her own life experiences have made her a better writer.

Her books include: Gwendolyn’s Wish, Southern Adventures, Richard the Lionheart, My Boyfriend the Squire, Southern Attraction and Captain Honey Bear.  Her delightful children's book, Gwendolyn's Wish, is about a young girl named Gwendolyn.

About Gwendolyn's Wish

Gwendolyn was a homely looking girl who didn't have any friends. She was lonely until she met her next door neighbor, Zahara.

She was intrigued by Zahara's beauty and soon found she had a secret. Join Gwendolyn on her insightful journey as she discovers the secret to Zahara's beauty and what she soon discovers about herself.

Tracy shares with us the inspiration behind Gwendolyn's Wish:

"The story came from a vivid dream I had. My dream revealed things I couldn't even imagine. Without telling the whole story, I saw rain drops that when you touched them, turned to crystal - sparkling a rainbow of colours. These rain drops were hanging from a tree, and as I awoke, I imagined a book that had the same type of things.

"I had to create a character on my own to identify with the colourful dream I had. The character Gwendolyn is a part of who I was as a child - full of imagination and often playing outside. The parrot was added later as I wrote the story. I had remembered watching the movie Paulie and fell in love with the parrot, so I came up with Sami. He is anyone's dream of what could happen if we only believe."

Tracy's other children's book is called Captain Honey Bear.
